Last Friday, Jennifer Lopez performed at a concert in Morocco that has lead to calls for the country’s communication minister to resign, according to local media.
The concert was broadcast on the 2M public TV network to the delight of fans, but Minister of Communication Mustapha Khalfi was criticized for letting the show air on public television. Members of the ruling Justice and Development Party said that Lopez’s performance was a “breach of public decency”. The local media criticized Lopez for her “suggestive poses” and for being “scantily dressed”.
According to BBC, Khalfi has rejected calls for his resignation. He responded to the criticism through Twitter, explaining he planned to contact 2M TV’s ethics committee to discuss the issue. He also added, “What was broadcast is unacceptable and goes against broadcasting law.”
