Watch his performance go up in flames—literally
Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, has refused to do interviews in the past, but it looks like he is ready to hit center stage in the media’s eyes with his new video for “Can’t Feel My Face.” Between last fall’s Ariana Grande collaboration “Love Me Harder,” Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack song “Earned It” and his future album Beauty Behind the Madness, it looks like he is on his way to becoming one of the biggest male pop stars.
The Weeknd has figuratively caught fire on the charts, with No. 2 “Can’t Feel My Face.” In the music video, Abel Tesfaye performs in a bar to an unenthused crowd, who begin to throw objects at him. But when one audience member throws a burning lighter at him it literally ignites his performance and figuratively ignites the crowd’s excitement. “Can’t Feel My Face” definetly feels like it pays homage to Michael Jackson, both with its pop sound and fancy footwork.
