After weeks of teaser snippets, Lana Del Rey has released the title track of her third studio album and it does not disappoint. She released “Honeymoon” on Tuesday July 14 and has announced it over her social media pages. The cinematic song largely follows Ultraviolence’s nostalgic themes of tortured romance.
Through Instagram, Lana Del Rey said:
Here it is, the first and title track off my record – Honeymoon. In some ways I feel it’s where the record begins and ends… there are so many other tracks on the record, 13 others to be exact- Some with a muddy trap energy and some inspired by late-night Miles Davis drives… But I love this song because it encapsulates all of the things that come naturally to me.
Earlier this year, while revealing the title and progress of her third album she told Billboard, “It’s very different from the last one and similar to the first two, Born to Die and Paradise.” “It’s growing into something I really like. I’m kind of enjoying sinking into this more noirish feel for this one. It’s been good.
