Anaconda OTT Release Update: The iconic creature thriller Anaconda has made a surprising comeback, this time with a heavy dose of comedy. Starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black, the film has already started earning praise through early critic reactions. What many expected to be a loud and chaotic reboot is now being described as one of the most entertaining and funniest releases of the year.
Backed by Sony Pictures Entertainment India, Anaconda has finally hit theatres today (December 25) in India, on the special occasion of Christmas. The film will release in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, making it accessible to a wide range of audiences across India.
HERE’S EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT THE NEW ANACONDA MOVIE
Anaconda is a 2025 American action comedy horror film that serves as a self-aware reboot of the 1997 cult classic of the same name. Directed by Tom Gormican and written by Gormican along with Kevin Etten, the film takes a fresh and humorous approach to the familiar creature-thriller genre.
The movie features an ensemble cast led by Paul Rudd and Jack Black, along with Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello. Blending action, horror, and comedy, the film leans into meta storytelling while delivering high-energy entertainment.
The story follows four childhood friends – Doug, Griff, Kenny, and Claire – who set out on a nostalgic journey to relive their younger days. Hoping to reconnect with their past, they travel deep into the Amazon rainforest to shoot a low-budget remake of the original Anaconda as a fun passion project.
However, their light-hearted plan takes a dangerous turn when they come face-to-face with a real, massive anaconda. What begins as a playful adventure quickly turns into a fight for survival, forcing the group to confront real danger while trapped in the wild.
ANACONDA OTT RELEASE UPDATE: WHEN & WHERE WILL THE FILM STREAM ONLINE?
At the moment, Anaconda (2025) is not available to stream on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, as the film has been released exclusively in theatres. For now, watching it on the big screen is the only option for viewers. Since Anaconda 2025 is backed by Sony Pictures, its digital and streaming journey is expected to follow the studio’s usual release pattern.
While the film will eventually be available to buy or rent on Prime Video, it will not be included for free with a Prime subscription anytime soon. Audiences who want to watch the movie at home will need to wait for its digital release or its arrival on a streaming platform.
Sony has an existing deal with Netflix for its films under the “Pay 1” window, which refers to the first major streaming phase after a movie completes its theatrical and home media run. Because of this agreement, Anaconda 2025 is expected to stream on Netflix eventually.
Based on recent trends, the film could land on Netflix sometime in spring 2026. A recent Sony release, Caught Stealing, arrived on the platform roughly three months after its theatrical debut. If Anaconda 2025 follows a similar timeline, it may begin streaming around late March 2026. However, some Sony titles have taken closer to four months, which means the release could also extend to late April 2026.
