American Honda led all automakers in the Cars.com 2025 American-Made Index with eight Honda and Acura models ranked in the top 20, according to a Honda news release.
With a more than 40-year commitment to building automobiles in America using domestic and globally made parts, Honda has consistently been a leader in the number of vehicles topping the American-Made Index since it was established by Cars.com in 2006.
For the 2025 American-Made Index, top 10 models included the Honda Passport sport utility vehicle, Ridgeline pickup and Odyssey minivan. The Honda Pilot, Honda Accord and the Acura MDX, RDX and Integra placed in the top 20. The engines of the Acura MDX, RDX and Integra as well as the Honda Accord are made at the Honda Anna Engine Plant.
Four of the Honda vehicles — Honda Passport, Pilot, Ridgeline and Odyssey — are produced exclusively in Alabama, with the other four vehicles — the Honda Accord and Acura MDX, RDX and Integra — all built exclusively in Ohio. Moreover, six of the models were designed and developed by Honda engineers in the U.S. (Honda Passport, Pilot, Ridgeline and Odyssey, and the Acura MDX and RDX).
“This recognition of Honda’s leadership in U.S. auto manufacturing is based on more than four decades of commitment to building vehicles in America,” said Jun Jayaraman, senior vice president of the Manufacturing Management Center, Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC. “From design and development to sourcing, logistics and final production, our highly integrated regional manufacturing network results in some of the most American vehicles on the roads today proudly displaying Honda and Acura badging.”
Cars.com criteria for the American-Made Index include location of final assembly; percentage of U.S. and Canadian parts; country of origin for available engines; country of origin for available transmissions; and U.S. manufacturing employees relative to the automaker’s footprint. The release also provided Honda U.S. auto manufacturing statistics, including that nearly 64% of the Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the U.S. in 2024 were made in America using domestic and globally made parts — the second-highest percentage of any full-line automaker; Honda operates eight automobile and engine plants in the U.S. in Ohio, Indiana, Alabama and Georgia; Honda has produced more than 30 million cars and light trucks in the U.S. over the last 40 years; and in 2024, Honda purchased over $30.6 billion from U.S. suppliers for the production of Honda and Acura vehicles.
